July 10, 2025 —​ The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has lifted the shellfish safety notifications today related to sport-harvested clams, scallops, and oysters from Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles Counties, except the Northern Channel Islands.

​​CDPH Warns Public Not to Consume Sport-Harvested Bivalve Shellfish from Del Norte County

July 3, 2025 —​ The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is advising consumers not to eat sport-harvested mussels, clams, scallops, or oysters from Del Norte County.

June 19, 2025 —​ The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is advising consumers not to eat sport-harvested mussels, clams, scallops, or oysters from Marin County.

​​CDPH Lifts Warning Against Consuming Commercial and Sport-Harvested Pacific Sardines from Southern California Waters

June 12, 2025 —​  The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has lifted the shellfish and seafood safety notification advising consumers not to eat commercial and sport-harvested Pacific sardines caught from waters between:Ā 

  • ​Point Conception (34° 27' N. Lat.) a​nd the California/Mexico border (Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties)

​​CDPH Warns of Possible Norovirus Infections from Imported Raw Korean Oysters

May 22, 2025 —​  The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is warning distributors and retailers not to sell or serve frozen raw oysters from JBR (KR 15 SP) in Tongyeong-si, Republic of Korea (ROK) because they may be contaminated with norovirus, a virus that can cause serious gastrointestinal illness.

​​CDPH Warns of Domoic Acid Toxicity From Frozen Anchovies

May 7, 2025 —​ The California Department of Public Health is warning distributors and retailers to not sell specific lot numbers of frozen Sea Wave brand anchovies that have been found to contain elevated levels of domoic acid.

​​CDPH Removes Previous Warning for Commercially Harvested Rock Crab from Portions of Humboldt and Del Norte Counties

April 29, 2025 —​  The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has lifted the shellfish safety notification that warned against consuming commercially harvested rock crab from state waters located at:Ā 

  • ​​North jetty of the Humboldt Bay entrance (40° 46.15’ N. Lat.) to the California/Oregon border (42° 00.00’ N. Lat.) (Humboldt and Del Norte counties).
​​Annual Quarantine of Sport-Harvested Mussels Begins May 1
